Study the truth tables and the function of the input and output pins to get an understanding of each device's operation. Adding two + two bits is just adding one + one bits twice: two single bit full adders. Using your Quad jumpers, wire up a 4-bit Cadder as shown in the diagram. ![]() ![]() For a single bit adder, you have three inputs and two outputs. The LSB out is the bit value and the MSB is the carry. If you work out the table for the first bit, then for the second bit, you can combine. Start with SW1/0 which goes to A1 and all the way up to SW8/7 which goes to B4. Connect LED1/0 to SUM1 up to C4 (Carry out) which goes to LEDS/4. (note switches 8/7, 7/6, 6/5 will be connected to the Comparator and the Adder circuits simultaneously).
